The scholarship is distributed by the North-West Ceramics Foundation,
a charity dedicated to education in the ceramic arts, for the benefit of potters
and sculptors working in clay throughout British Columbia.
Maureen Wright Scholarship
The Maureen Wright Scholarship was set up to honour the self-taught Vancouver
potter, Maureen Wright. The scholarship will pay up to $200.00 towards any short-term
educational activity. It's easy to apply for funding, and every self-taught
novice or established potter, sculptor or ceramist can apply.
Eligibility:
a) The candidate must be a resident of British Columbia.
b) Board members of the North-West Ceramics Foundation or the Potters Guild
of BC are not eligible.
c) Previous recipients may reapply after five years.
d ) Students currently enrolled in a full-time ceramics program are not eligible.
(because they are already exposed to training, education and inspiration...)
Jury:
Members of the North-West Ceramics Foundation, one member of the Potters Guild of BC.
Criteria:
Clarity of intent and realistic budget
How to Apply:
Write a letter of application which includes all of the following:
a) State workshop or conference you wish to attend
b) State estimated cost
c) Describe how this event will help your work
d) Include a current CV
All applications are considered confidential. Applications may be made at ANY TIME FOR ANY WORKSHOP by all potters, ceramists and clay artists - novice or established. Funds to successful applicants will be paid directly to the workshop registrar.
