I was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
From 1984-1987 I studied for a BA Fine Arts majoring in Ceramics. In 1988 I completed my Higher Diploma in Education.
After teaching in South Africa for a year I went to the United Kingdom. On returning to South Africa in 1990 I took a post as ceramics lecturer at the Bloemfontein College. I served as Art Department Head from 1990-1994. From 1994-2004 I lectured at the University of the Orange Free State in Drawing and Ceramics.
I completed my MA Fine Arts (Ceramics) at the University of the Free State in 2004. My Exhibition and Dissertation Title: The pot is the woman. The ceramic vessel as body metaphor.
I relocated with my husband to Cranbrook in December 2004.
I have taken part in many group exhibitions, both in South Africa and in Canada and have had a solo exhibition Eve-olution at Centre 64, Kimberley in 2005. Amongst my international exhibitions were the following: the 52nd International Ceramics Competition, Museo Internationale della Ceramiche, Faenza, Italy in 2001, the XV111th Biennale Internationale de Ceramique d'art, Vallauris, France in 2002 and the International Ceramics Festival in Mino, Japan in 2002.
Locally I have taken part in ArtsAround and Arts on the Edge. Finding new clay and glazes in Canada has been a real challenge and this is something that I continue to explore.
