Bronzed Sun God (2006): Sculpture clay washed with copper and manganese, cone 6 (height: 28 inches, diameter 24 inches). Installed in a garden as a planter, this vessel preserves a pair of well worn jeans set out to endure the elements. The open form invites seasonal vegetation to bring a human presence to quiet place in the front yard.
Footed Bowls (2007): Seattle Midnight Black Clay, High Magnesium Crawl Glaze, Cone 6 (height: 5 inches, diameter 10 inches). These footed bowls show the potential of a crawl glaze to create a visual texture that asks to be touched.
Lace Bowl (2007): porcelain, cobalt oxide wash under high flux cream glaze, cone 6 (height: 4.5 inches, diameter: 15 inches). Lace impressions on clay are augmented by cobalt oxide to create a sense of visual texture and creates tension between rigid stone and delicate fabric.
Native Clay Mug (2006), Cone 6, (height: 6 inches, diameter: 5 inches). The claybody used for this mug is from an excavation in North Vancouver; the high-flux glaze adds a dynamic dimension to the surface, a glaze selected to capture the fire's power to transform the earth's elements.

Woodfired Vases (2006): Stoneware claybody glazed with woodfire ash, cone 10, (large vase height: 7 inches, width: 7 inches, depth: 7 inches; small vase height: 5 inches, width: 4 inches, depth: 2.5 inches). The texture of these vases was created by rolling carpet underlay over the slab; the small vase was placed in a part of the kiln where a maximum amount of ash would fall upon it during the firing. Woodfired works that survive a two day, high-risk firing process are reminders of the power of fire to create and destroy.
