Susan Delatour LePoidevin graduated with a BA degree in the History of Art and Craft from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1976.
She studied at the Sun Valley Centre for the Arts in Idaho and the Banff Centre in Alberta before moving to B.C. in 1980.
From that time to the present, she has concentrated primarily on low fire primitive-fired sculptures.
In 1996-97, Susan lived in Scotland and returned in 2001 to do an artist residency at Kilmartin House in Argyll, Scotland.
Susan's work has been exhibited in galleries and juried shows across Canada as well as internationally including the U.S, Great Britain, Taiwan and Korea.
Susan's most recent series, Ancient Imprints, are handbuilt earthenware functional pieces reminiscent of pictographs and petroglyphs from early cultures. She is presently exploring flower containers, tiles and goblet forms with textured surfaces rubbed with oxides and stains.
In recent years, Susan has given a number of presentations and workshops to adults and children across BC. Presently, she has set up a Potter's Guild and Community Clay Studio in Princeton, BC where she teaches pottery classes to adults and kids. She is also available throughout the year to give weekend or weeklong workshops in handbuilding and sawdust firing to guilds, schools, or other groups across BC and Canada.
Susan's work can be viewed at Lambert's Gallery on Granville St. in Vancouver, Van Dop Gallery, New Westminster, and Fired-Up Annual Show and Sale in Metchosin, BC. Her studio in Princeton is open by appointment.
